Education & Banking

The education of current and future bankers is highly important for the industry and the country, and I seek to further the goal of banker education in all available opportunities. Following my years with the Texas Department of Banking, I have continued to be a speaker/presenter and on the following Advisory Boards:

Bank Operations Institute, SMU, Dallas, Texas - operating under a relationship with the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU, this program focuses on the professional growth of primarily bank operations staff. https://www.swgsb.org/boi/

Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair, Sam Houston University, Huntsville, Texas - This program provides business college students with a degree in Banking following a period of a bank internship and appropriate bank-oriented class studies. The Chair also provides a graduate Executive MBA in Banking since 2004, allowing existing banking professionals the opportunity to further enhance their capacities. http://www.shsu.edu/~fin_www/

Texas Tech Banking School, Texas Tech, Lubbock, Texas - This program is a two-year, community bank management oriented program seeking to strengthen the attendees' overall comprehension of the whole bank's operations and needs. http://ttubankschool.ba.ttu.edu/

Department of Finance and Economics of Texas State University's McCoy College of Business Administration, San Marcos, Texas - This Advisory Board works with Finance and Economics faculty and students in this program. Additionally, I have taught several senior level courses at the Department of Finance and Economics, including "Money and Banking", and "Commercial Bank Management". http://fin-eco.mccoy.txstate.edu/


I am a 1982 (Class XXIII) graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, SMU, Dallas, Texas. In 2005, I received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the SWGSB Alumni Association, and also continue to be a speaker and presenter at SWGSB. https://www.swgsb.org
